We warmly welcome you!
You are planning to visit Retz? Don't hesitate to contact us - we put together a tailor-made offer for you!
Please call us if there aren't any bookable rooms!
You will live in an old mansion in the heart of town. It was rebuilt in 1577 by the city judge of Retz, Veit Hoffmann. The ground floor accommodates our café and a small wine shop.
We named our rooms after cakes. You can choose between Julia, Esterházy, Apfelstrudel, National park, or Kürbis.
Thanks for choosing us for your holidays - see you soon in the Weinviertel!
The TV series "Julia - an extraordinary woman", shot in Retz and its surroundings, has made the town even more popular.
During an exhibition in the rooms of our cáfe, you can learn more about the film locations, have a look into the scripts or enjoy a "Julia - snack".
This includes a large, light Mélange (tea or chocolate are both possible), a Julia cake and the cup as a gift.
The Julia cake is a house recipe from the cáfe (Café Schuh) in Bad Gastein, which Paula Wessely and Attila Hörbiger originally bought for Christiane Hörbiger. She, however, became an actress, because otherwise she would have baked the cake for her guests.
This and many more stories ... in our exhibition!
