Walking & hiking, cycling and mountain biking
The Hohe Salve area has a lot to offer when it comes to summer activities and sports. Choose from innumerable trails for walking and hiking, as well as a variety of cycling routes (for both mountain bikes and electric bicycles) down in the valley or high up in the mountains, at altitudes of up to 2,400 meters. Rafting and kayaking, paragliding and pony trekking also make for an inspiring nature experience for the old and young. The area was named after its most prominent landmark, Hohe Salve Mountain (1,828 m), also known as Tirol’s Rigi. It has become popular thanks to its spectacular view of the mountains.
Several uphill facilities ensure fabulous mountain adventures even for families with children and elderly people. Once up there, you are to enjoy awe-inspiring views of breathtaking mountains and mountain ranges, including Hohe Tauern, the Zillertal Alps, Wilder Kaiser, and even Grossglockner and Grossvenediger. Salvenkirche at the top of Hohe Salve is Austria’s highest (as far as altitude is concerned) pilgrimage church. The nearby Gipfelalm restaurant offers meals and refreshments, and the popular mountain breakfast for early birds.
