Walking, Hiking & MorePowered by steam engines, the Achensee cog railway makes its way slowly up the mountain, taking visitors from Jenbach to Lake Achensee. The lake itself is a dorado for those who love sailing and surfing, due to favorable wind conditions. However, it is also appreciated for a refreshing swim: The Buchau lakeside beach is especially popular on a hot summer's day.
Those in need of more action and activities will rather head for the mountains. The Rofanseilbahn cable car takes you up to an altitude of more than 2,000 meters within no time at all. Once up there, you may choose from a variety of walking and hiking routes: Why not take the two-hour tour to Rofanspitze (2,259 m) via Mauritzalm and Grubascharte? There are some 500 km of way-marked tracks and trails throughout the Achensee area, including the famous Tirolean Eagle Walk route.
