Holidays in Mayrhofen at the heart of Tirol

The Zillertal’s main holiday village is located at the entrance to four side valleys: Zillergrund, Stillupgrund, Zemmgrund and Tuxertal. The high alpine Zillertaler Alpen Nature Park offers fantastic hiking off the beaten paths. The park has pristine nature, unique vegetation and rare Alpine animals. Running from Finkenberg to Mayrhofen, the 70-kilometer long Berliner Höhenweg trail crosses the entire length of the park and takes about a week to walk (total elevation gain: 6700 meters). Eight refuge huts along the way offer overnight accommodation and food. The Zillertaler Höhenstraße is one of the most beautiful high Alpine roads boasting fabulous views of the Zillertal and the surrounding mountains. It is especially popular with motor bikers.

Winter Galore in Zillertal

Mayrhofen covers 180 km² and is Tirol's third largest municipality in size. The rear Zillertal is encircled by the majestic mountain ranges and steep mountain flanks of the Tux and Zillertal Alps. Mayrhofen makes a truly perfect winter holiday base for all sports aficionados: top modern ski lifts take skiers and snowboarders right from Mayrhofen to the Ahorn and Penken ski mountains. The ultimate „Ski Zillertal 3000“ boasts some 200 slope kilometers, comprising the winter sport regions of Mayrhofen, Tux and Finkenberg accessible with a single skipass, and is therefore one of Tirol's and Austria's largest ski areas.

Additionally, the holiday region has a year-round glacier ski area - Hintertux Glacier and many pristine winter walking routes suitable also for snowshoe hikers. Snow tubing, skidoo tours and paragliding adventures are scheduled as well.
